Homily: 5th Sunday of Lent (A)
A note from your priest:
“The first casualty of war is the truth.”-Aeschylus, 550BC
I ravenously listen to news and opinion across the so-called “political spectrum”, including foreign sources (particularly from India and the Middle East), and I don’t believe we are being told the truth about the war.
Think back to February 2020. Were we being told the truth back then?
If, in February 2020, you knew what was coming in the following months (COVID LOCKDOWNS), what would you have done to prepare? What would you have made sure you had on hand in your pantry & workshop? Remember that during the lockdowns we couldn’t even buy paint from the home improvement stores because paint was deemed “non-essential”!—a trivial matter, but it makes a point.
Call me crazy, I don’t care. But, I strongly urge you to consider what you might need to do to prepare for hard times….and then do it!
The most important thing on any list you make should be going to holy Mass & praying the rosary. Then, make sure your pantry & workshop are stocked to the best of your ability. If a year from now you have a surplus of “rice & beans” in your cupboard that you didn’t end up needing, thanks be to God!
I hope these are just the rantings of a crazy man. But, I’m afraid I might be right.
